Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a 2011 adventure movie with a runtime of 2 hours and 21 minutes. Jack, true to his pirate nature goes off on his own on the island where he ends up in strange and often comical situations, which only he could get out of. Eventually, the mermaid is tricked into shedding a tear which is captured in the special chalice. Philip goes on the island along with Jack and Angelica, where he ends up falling in love with the captured mermaid. Philip is a missionary who does not want to take part in Blackbeard's quest to regain his youth. Among the crew on Blackbeard's ship is a young man who is also being held against his will. The adventure brings both groups to a mysterious island where they do indeed find a mermaid. Jack's former partner Barbossa is also part of the adventure to find the legendary fountain, although his quest is separate from that of Blackbeards. Blackbeard wants to capture the mermaid and drink her tear in order to turn back the hands of time. The legend states that a mermaids tear must be drunk from the chalice in order to regain youth. Blackbeard wants Jack to lead him to the Fountain of Youth, because he possess two special chalices which are needed for returning his youth to him.
